-unexplainable amnesia or forgetfulness

-inability to recall important information

-the presence of two or more distinct identities

-at least two of the distinct personalities take control of the person’s behavior

-the alternate personalities is mostly of the opposite gender from the current personality

-the victim or patient experience convulsion, contortions, fainting, and transcient impairment of consciousness.
